Most events are open to the public with free admission, with the exception of Solvang on Ice, S’moresFest!, and the Holiday Wine Walks.

The 100 Trees of Julefest

The 100 Trees of Julefest creates a kaleidoscope of decorated foliage at 100 businesses throughout the Village. Stroll among the uniquely decorated trees, and let it inspire your own holiday spirit!

Throughout the village, more than 150 one-of-a-kind boutiques and specialty shops offer everything from clogs to Danish porcelain to handmade lace, leather, iron art, jewelry, clothing, elegant antiques and collectibles. Unique toy stores offer playful options for stocking stuffers and kids of all ages. The incredible variety makes Solvang a perfect destination to shop for holiday gifts.


December 6-8th

Solvang on Ice

Practice your triple axle, and join us at Solvang's FIRST Ice Skating Rink located next to our gorgeous Village Christmas Tree in Solvang Park.

Be sure to reserve your tickets early, as this event has a high potential of sell-out. 

Rink Information

 The rink will operate daily between December 6th and 8th, between 9:00am-9:45pm. Each session is 45 minutes. Tickets:  Child (12 and under) $9/Adult (13 and up) $12 Price includes skate rental.

Annual Tree-Lighting Ceremony

 Julefest sparkles with the annual Tree-Lighting Ceremony of the city’s 50-foot evergreen in Solvang Park. 

Enjoy free live entertainment with ballerinas, bands, caroling and the arrival of Santa Claus!

Saturday, December 7th

Solvang Christmas Parade

The Annual Solvang Christmas Parade begins at 11am. This year's entries include Danish dancers, musical groups, vintage vehicles, horses, carriages and animals!  Santa Claus will be available for visits and photos in Solvang Park post-parade.


Route Information

The parade originates at Old Mission Santa Ines (1760 Mission Drive), travels west on Mission Drive (Highway 246), turns left on Fourth Place, turns left on Copenhagen Drive, then left on Alisal, and ends on Mission Drive.



Saturday December 14th & Sunday December 15th

Holiday Wine Walk

Called "Worth the Drive" by NBC LA, the Solvang Holiday Wine Walk features 13 wine tasting rooms hosting a wine tasting walk throughout the village from 11am-4pm both days. Stroll among the shops, and lights as you get a bit of a Taste of Solvang!

 Tickets available for $40 per person for the 2-day pass include a souvenir wine glass.

S’moresFest! is brand new to the Julefest line-up, and promises a sweet time! Solvang Park in Downtown Solvang will transfer into a veritable candy land; as attendees will be able to roast their own marshmallows, and create their own tasty customized S’more from a selection of locally produced candy and baked goods.

Local favorites, The Molly Ringwald Project will be rocking S'moresFest! with some kicked up holiday tunes. S'moresFest! is sure to be fun for the entire family! 


Event Information

Tickets are available for sale beginning October 1st, and are priced at $10 prior to event day, and $15 at the door. Ticket includes 2 S’mores, hot chocolate, and entertainment.

Nativity Pageant

The “Christmas Story” comes to life in the Nativity Pageant at the outdoor Solvang Festival Theater (420 Second Street).  Enjoy a choir, actors in traditional costumes, and live animals on stage. There are two FREE performances at 5pm and 7pm, with seating on a first come, first entertained basis.

In the unlikely event of rain, performances will be held at an alternate location.

Annual Christmas Tree Burn

Solvang’s Annual Christmas Tree Burn brought to you by the Solvang Parks & Recreation Department, starts at 6pm in the fields of Old Mission Santa Inés, 1760 Mission Drive. The Annual burn, supervised by the Santa Barbara County Fire Department is one of the largest fire safety demonstrations and community gatherings on California's Central Coast. All area residents are invited to bring their tree (stands & ornaments must be removed) to the burn pile between January 6-10, 2014; and then join together to see this powerful spectacle ignite the New Year and herald the end of Solvang's Julefest Celebration.
